Comparison of Record — 04 · peer

Argos OS and HaloPSA.

HaloPSA is deep, highly configurable and well-regarded, and it earned that reputation from MSPs with demanding process requirements. This is not an attack page. Our differences with it are two, they are honest, and neither of them is “their product is worse.”

Disclosure — first, and above the comparison

Everything wrong with us, before anything about them.

Same order on every comparison page we publish, friendly or otherwise. We disclose, then we compare.

We have zero Argos OS customers. Halo has a real customer base across multiple countries, with MSPs who have configured it hard and stayed. We have a soft-launch date of September 2026 and one MSP on the platform: our own. customers
Every number we publish came from our own MSP. 26 client companies, 1,301 tickets, 300 monitors, one practice since 2013. Our own environment, scope-tagged everywhere it appears. scope
We are less configurable than they are, on purpose and also on capability. Some of that is a deliberate opinion about defaults; some of it is simply that they have had longer. Both halves are true and we are not going to present the second as the first. flexibility
Our own pricing is not published yet — it is set at launch by our CEO — and our catalog of 27 products still has four in beta and four in build, with containment dry-run verified rather than production-proven. All of it is at /unfinished. unfinished
Credit where it is owed

What HaloPSA is genuinely good at.

A vendor that cannot describe a competitor’s strengths accurately is telling you it has not looked closely. We have looked closely.

Configurability, as a first-class design goal. Workflows, fields, statuses, approvals, portals, automations — shaped to how your practice actually runs rather than how a vendor imagined it would. If you have opinions about your process, Halo will let you express nearly all of them. flexibility
Service-management maturity. The ITIL-shaped disciplines — incident, request, problem, change, service catalog — are present as real constructs rather than as fields bolted onto a ticket. MSPs with a formal process model tend to find it fits without a fight. process
Breadth in the PSA itself. Contracts, billing, projects, reporting and client portals with a depth built up over years of demanding customers asking for specific things and getting them. depth
A reputation earned from operators, not analysts. The MSPs who like Halo tend to be the ones who took the time to configure it properly, which is the most credible kind of advocacy there is. standing
The narrow claim

Two honest differences. That is the whole disagreement.

Not a feature grid with the questions chosen after the answer. Two things, both structural, both checkable.

Difference one — the security plane

A configurable PSA integrates to your security stack. Argos includes the security and compliance plane on the same data model as the ticket.

  • Integration means two systems, each with a private notion of truth, exchanging copies across a boundary. Copies drift, and drift is silent by construction.
  • In Argos the detection, the ticket, the asset and the compliance control resolve the same client row by key. There is nothing to synchronize because nobody holds a copy.
  • 18 compliance frameworks assemble evidence from the platform that already did the work, rather than from an export somebody re-uploads quarterly.
  • The trade is real and it cuts both ways: you get depth without a second vendor relationship, and you give up the freedom to pick a best-of-breed security product we do not make.
Difference two — who does the configuring

Deep configurability has a cost, and in this category that cost is usually paid as an implementation or configuration engagement — yours, a partner’s, or both.

  • We do not charge an onboarding fee. We stand your instance up ourselves, white-labeled to your brand, during the free period.
  • 30 days, the whole platform, no card, no annual or multi-year agreement, no lock-in.
  • The corresponding trade, stated plainly: our defaults are more opinionated than Halo’s, and if your process genuinely differs from those defaults you will feel it sooner with us than with them.
  • You export everything, any day, at no cost — a pillar that exists because of something that happened to us, described below.
Line by line

The comparison, with a scope column.

Three of these rows go to them. They are in the same table, in the same order we wrote them.

Dimension HaloPSA Argos OS Scope
Configurability Extensive. Workflows, fields, approvals and portals bent to your process. Opinionated defaults, configurable within them. Less rope, deliberately — and less rope than some MSPs want. theirs, honestly
ITIL process constructs Mature and first-class. Present and in production in our own practice, including change management — but younger, and with a thinner long tail. theirs, honestly
Security operations Integrated from third-party products you license and operate separately. Included on the same data model: fused telemetry, AI-adjudicated triage, canaries, exposure monitoring and continuous pentest. our own environment
Compliance evidence Sourced from whichever GRC tool you have chosen, by export. Assembled live from the platform that ran the work, across 18 frameworks. our own environment
Audit spine Conventional application logging and history. One append-only hash-chained log for the whole platform — 165,000+ records, enforced by the database rather than by policy. our own environment
Independent verification Not a claim the product makes. Chain head anchored in Bitcoin block 959874 — a ledger we do not control, which is the entire point. independently verifiable
Getting started A configuration project, run by you or by a partner, with the depth that implies. We stand it up for you, white-labeled, free for 30 days. No onboarding fee. our published offer
Hosting Cloud or self-managed, per their options. Hosted and operated by us, in your brand. Argos Sovereign is a dedicated, isolated instance in our datacenter. There is no customer self-hosting, and we say so rather than leaving it ambiguous. our model
Track record Years of production use across a real, multi-country customer base. One MSP — ours. Not close, and honesty costs us this row every time. theirs, honestly
our own environment — not customer scale
Why the export commitment is not marketing

We have been the customer holding the empty box.

We report 1,301 tickets resolved end to end. Our real number is higher — we ran on SyncroMSP and Freshdesk before this, and that history didn’t come with us when we left. We can’t prove it, so we don’t count it. That’s why Argos exports everything, any day, at no cost. We’ve been the customer holding the empty box.

If you are evaluating a deeply configurable platform, the exit question matters more than usual, not less: the more of your process lives inside a vendor’s configuration, the more of your business is expressed in a format only that vendor reads. Ask whoever you buy from — including us — exactly what leaves with you, in what shape, and what it costs. Then get the answer in writing.

our own environment
The concession

When HaloPSA is the better choice, and it genuinely is.

Buy HaloPSA, not Argos, if
  • Your process is ITIL-mature and you want maximum configurability. If you have a documented service model that your practice actually follows, and you want the tool to conform to it rather than the reverse, Halo is built for exactly that and we are not.
  • You have the internal capacity to configure it properly. Someone whose job includes owning the PSA, who will do the workflow design and keep it current. That person plus Halo is a very strong combination, and it beats an opinionated platform that keeps disagreeing with them.
  • Your security stack is already chosen and you like it. If you have a security practice you are happy with, our including that plane is not a benefit — it is duplication you would be paying for. Integration is the right answer for you, and Halo does integration well.
  • You need a proven vendor with customers today. They have a base. We have zero. If that is decisive for your board, it should be decisive, and no architecture argument changes it.

Where we think we are the better buy is narrow: you want the security and compliance half of your business to live on the same data model as the ticket rather than beside it; you want to check the vendor’s claims without asking the vendor; you would rather have the instance stood up for you than run a configuration project; and you want to be able to leave with everything you put in. If that is not you, buy Halo — and we mean that in the same tone we would say it on the phone.

Two documents keep this one honest, and they are the same two that keep the whole site honest: what isn’t finished yet, and the claim ledger — every number with its scope, its evidence and, where a third party holds the record, a link to check it somewhere we have no authority.

Don’t trust us. Check us.

Own your stack. Make it talk to itself.

We stand it up. You decide after you have used it.
